Hampta Pass Trek Situated in the district of Manali, Hampta Pass trek is one of the best treks for the first timers. With a maximum elevation of 14,100 ft, it has absolutely wonderful landscapes to treat your eyes with. Hampta Pass falls in the Pir Panjal Range and goes through the Kullu and Lahaul valley with very contrasting beauties. The difficulty level ranges from easy to moderate and the best times for this trek are between June to September. It ideally takes 4-5 days for this trek.
Chandratal Lake Trek This place must be on everybody’s bucket list. Situated at a height of 4,300 meters, Chandratal derives its name from being the source of the Chandra River. It is also one of the finest places in the country for star gazing at night while camping. Taking a walk along the banks of this lake with the moon rising from behind the snow-topped mountains is an unmatched experience. The best time to visit Chandratal is between June to October spanning over 5 days. The difficulty level remains easy to moderate.
Kheerganga Trek This is one of the most popular treks in Himachal Pradesh and is indeed one of the best. Starting from Kasol located by the banks of river Parvati, the trek is only 12 kms long. It takes you through coniferous forests, Rudra Nag Waterfall and pristinely beautiful green slopes, finally to the high altitude meadow of Kheerganga. Views of the streams flowing by and the glaciers of Lahaul and Spiti are really enchanting. It is a fairly easy trek and can be done any time of the year. Snow in the winter months makes it a little difficult but also rewards with stunning views.
Deo Tibba Trek one of the lesser known but certainly not less beautiful. Starting from Manali, this trek takes you through alpine forests, meadows and waterfalls. The trek offers stunning views of the Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks as well as Jagatsukh and Deo Tibba Glaciers. The difficulty level of this trek is moderately high and it would really test your skills hence. One can also enjoy a camp gazing at millions of stars at night and stunning landscapes below with moraines and lush green forests. It takes about 6 days for this trek and is best between June to September.
